  • Gwen Collins-Greenup is the Democratic candidate for Secretary of State. She says if elected, her priorities are to increase voter participation, allow people who are formally incarcerated and on probation or parole to vote, and get new voting machines.
  • Early voting is still underway for the December 8th election. There are 134 candidate runoffs in 47 parishes. You have through this Saturday to cast your ballots early.
  • New Iberia Police are investigating a shooting that happened near the corner of Lee and School streets. Police confirmed that a gun was fired however there were no injuries reported.
  • 58% of Acadiana youth surveyed admitted that they communicated with adults online that they don’t know. Hearts of hope a local Organization that provides support and services to child sexual abuse victims, recommend that parents speed to their children about appropriate behavior online and always have their social media account passwords.
  • The Lafayette Parish School System has ten variations of calendars changing the first day of school for the next school year. They’re to be posted to the board agenda by Friday afternoon.
  • Mother nature is affecting the harvesting of sugarcane in Vermilion Parish. Sugarcane farmers are having trouble because of recent weather conditions.
  • Waitr CEO and Louisiana native, Chris Meaux got to ring the NASDAQ opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange Wednesday morning.
  • The biggest game of the week, at least for us here in Louisiana. The Saints take on the Cowboys tonight in Dallas. Let’s see if Drew Brees can pull out another win for the Bayou State.
