- It’s Election Day and polls opened at 6:00 a.m. Before voters can cast their vote, they must bring a photo ID, or special ID, vote in their registered precinct and cannot wear any campaign paraphernalia. Polls close at 8:00 p.m.
- Louisana voters will vote on 6 constitutional amendments in today’s election. Some of those include felons serving in public office, unanimous jury verdicts for felony trials, and taxes.
- Voters will also be able to decide, on a parish-by-parish basis, if they want to legalize cash-league fantasy sports contests.
- The Lafayette Utilities System is not for sale. On Monday, the City-Parish Council unanimously approved a resolution expressing their opposition to any sale, partnership, or third party management agreement of LUS.
- Veterans’ Day is right around the corner and experts are warning military families and veterans of scams targeting them. According to the Better Business Bureau, the steady paychecks and relative youth of active-duty personnel may make them particular vulnerable.
- Fire destroyed a building in New Iberia, near the intersection of West St. Peter Street and South Landry Drive. No word on how the fire started. The incident remains under investigation.
- Isolated rain is expected today along with warm and humid conditions. Skies will be mostly cloudy with a high in the low 80’s. Isolated showers and storms are likely throughout the day.
