- Father Jody Simoneaux, the pastor at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Jeanerette, has been placed on administrative leave by the Diocese of Lafayette, after allegations of improper behavior with minors, stemming from more than 30 years ago.
- Police are investigating a shooting that happened in Breaux Bridge Thursday night. A mobile home and vehicle were damaged; however, no injuries were reported. Police are still looking into suspects.
- Lafayette Police are still looking for two suspects wanted for attempted murder. The shooting happened Tuesday on West Pinhook Road.
- Wednesday a Lafayette resident found a dead pitbull and a coulee next to a busy park. The dog was scanned and no micro chip was found. It is unclear if the pitbull was involved in dogfights. If you are suspicions of dog fighting near you call 911 or 1-877-TIP-HSUS.
- Department of Agriculture and Forestry commissioner mike strain says he’s confident a new farm bill will be in place by the end of this year. The farm bill is usually renewed every five years.
