• Louisiana Avenue is holding its New Years Eve watch night this evening. It begins at 10 pm.
  • The city of New Orleans is ringing in the new year with a city wide celebration. Over 500 law enforcement officers will provide security in the Big Easy through Tuesday for the Sugar Bowl.
  • In Acadiana, Geno Delafose and French Rock n Boogie are performing at Vermilionville for their annual New Year’s Eve celebration.  Proceeds for the show benefit Vermilionville.
  • The State Fire Marhsal’s office has issued cease and desist orders to eight fireworks stands in five parishes for illegal fireworks sales. They include stands in Lafayette, St. Martin, Acadia and Iberia Parishes.
  • Despite the government shutdown, FEMA says they will continue to renew and issue policies from the national flood insurance program.  Governor Edwards says the decision is welcomed news for Louisiana.
  • The victim of a shooting and attempting vehicle theft in Eunice has died from his injuries.  Authorities are searching for two suspects and a light colored car.
  • Authorities are investigating what appeared to be a human skull found while volunteers were searching for Thibodeaux over the weekend.  The LSU anthropology lab is currently working to identify the remains.
  • The parents of 9-year old Bryson Thibodeaux are facing cruelty charges after he went missing over the weekend.  Bryson and his sister are now in the custody of the department of children and family services.
