The votes are in, and Lafayette’s Olde Tyme Grocery placed second in USA Today’s 10best online contest for Louisiana po’boys!

The nomination list of 20 po’boy spots was compiled by local foodies, according to the contest website.

“Lafayette’s Olde Tyme Grocery has been making top-notch po’boys since 1982,” the website reads.

“All the usual suspects are on the menu, and specialty options include the Olde Tyme Special with ham, turkey, roast beef and Swiss cheese, and the Two Meat Combo with ham, roast beef and Swiss.

The shrimp po’ boy, overflowing with golden-fried morsels, is a favorite.”

The 1st place winner of the contest was Parkway Bakery and Tavern in New Orleans.

Other nominees for Best Po’ Boy in Louisiana included Crabby Jack’s in New Orleans, Herby-K’s in Shreveport, Katie’s Restaurant in New Orleans, Marilynn’s Place in Shreveport, Poor Boy Lloyd’s in Baton Rouge, Ray’s PeGe in West Monroe, SHUCKS! in Abbeville, Villager’s Café in Maurice, Walker’s Southern Style BBQ in New Orleans and Warehouse. No. 1 Restaurant in Monroe.
