LAFAYETTE, La. (Herman Fuselier/The Advertiser)- Lafayette native Samuel Oliver has been appointed executive director of the Acadiana Center for the Arts. The AcA announced Oliver’s appointment Friday on its website.

Oliver replaces Gerd Wuestemann, who resigned in February to become president and CEO of Scottsdale Arts in Scottsdale, AZ. Oliver served as assistant director for operations and administration at the Contemporary Arts Center, New Orleans.

Oliver was in charge of internal operations and management for the $3 million visual and performing arts presenter. He was instrumental in establishing the center’s audience development program and oversaw a $12 million renovation of the organization’s historic museum and performing arts facility.
