LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) — One person is dead from gunshot wounds after a late-night shooting on Joan Street, according to Lafayette Police Public Information Officer Sgt. Wayne Griffin.

Police responded to the shooting at around 11 p.m. last night (May 30), finding the victim and getting them to a local hospital, where they later died.

The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived. The investigation into the shooting is still ongoing.
