One person was treated for burns when a boat went up in flames at a dock in St. Mary Parish.
Fire crews from Central Four Corners Station responded and found heavy flames coming from the front area of a 24ft boat, just after 7:30 a.m. Saturday, Chief Clarence Clark said.
Within minutes, the fire was brought under control, he said.
The unidentified owner of the boat was transported to a local hospital with minor burns to the head and hand area, Clark said.
The exact cause of the fire is unknown, however Chief Clark issued an advisory asking that when fueling boats to please make sure their are no open flames and you are in a well vented area.
He also advised that engines should always be in an off position with fueling.
