The principal of Opelousas High School has been “temporarily reassigned,” from his position at the St. Landry Parish School.

When contacted on Tuesday, school officials provided no details of his sudden departure.

Dr. Myron Spencer, the principal at OHS since August 2018, has been replaced in the interim by Asst. Principal Ricky Julien who will serve until the end of the semester, according to a message from St. Landry Parish School Superintendent Dr. Patrick Jenkins.

“The position will be advertised later this spring.” Jenkins said.

Because it is “a personnel matter,” Jenkins said he would reserve comment on Spencer’s reassignment.

Additionally, Jenkins did not disclose Spencer’s new job duties, title or location.
