A fire in Opelousas destroyed a family home early Sunday morning. The Opelousas Fire Department was called out to the corner of Pike Street and West Avenue around 2:00 a.m. and continued to fight hot spots in the dwelling until 10:00 a.m. The Opelousas Fire Department is investigating the cause of the blaze that is beveled to have started in the laundry room of the dwelling. No injuries were reported.
