OPELOUSAS, La. (KLFY) – Opelousas Police are searching for a suspect or suspects wanted in connection with a shooting that happened on Monday, August 15th.

Officers responded to a call about multiple people fighting at the intersection of Congress and Boagni, but no one was there once they arrived.

Approximately 30 minutes later police received another call about shots being fired in the same area.

Again, officers did not find anyone when they arrived.

According to Public Information Officer Corey Leger, a short time later police received a call from Opelousas General Hospital staff saying there was a 22 year old black male in the Emergency Room with a single gunshot wound to the abdomen.

No suspects are in custody at this time and the shooting is still under investigation.
