The Brian Pope trial reached day 4.
The state called its first 3 witnesses today.
The first being Joe Castille, a political consultant who wrote press releases for Pope.
The next two were employees of the Marshall’s office.
The state was trying to prove its case that employees were working on campaign matters on company time.
This stems from a press conference called by Pope in response to statements made by then-candidate for sheriff Mark Garber which he made about illegal immigrants being granted a fair trial during workers compensation cases.
The prosecution is looking to prove Pope’s guilt by proving the Marshal Committed perjury by lying during deposition.
They also plan to prove malfeasance with evidence of employees on working on an election campaign on the clock.
The trial will resume on Friday morning at 8:30.
