ARNAUDVILLE, La. (KLFY)— New Mexico State Police arrest a person of interest in Arnaudville Lousiana murder investigation, authorities said.

Sheriff Bobby Guidroz said St. Landry Parish Deputies began investigating a suspicious death on September 7 in the Arnaudville area.

The Sheriff’s Office identified the victim as Clayborn Lee Pinder, 63, of Arnaudville.

According to a news release after an investigation and autopsy authorities ruled that the male died as a result of a homicide.

Further in the investigation, authorities said the victim’s vehicle was missing from the crime scene.

The missing vehicle was then entered into the National Crime Information Center which resulted in the vehicle being found in New Mexico, a news release stated.

Major Eddie Thibodaux said a person of interest in the homicide case was caught driving the vehicle. New Mexico State Police arrested Stoney Drake Bergeron, Jr., 25, of Arnaudville and detained him at the request of St. Landry detectives.

Authorities are currently transporting the vehicle and Bergeron back to St. Landry Parish, according to Sheriff Guidroz who added no further information will be released at this time due to the investigation being on going.
