Police confirmed a Baton Rouge teacher, whose body was found in a sugar cane field, was pregnant with the child of a former co-worker arrested in her death.

Lyntell Washington, 40, was found dead June 14 in Iberville Parish.

New details were released this week in the case from the Baton Rouge Police Department’s crime lab findings.

Police arrested Robert Jovantie Marks on charges of first-degree murder, first-degree feticide, child desertion and aggravated kidnapping of a child.

Marks was an assistant principal at Brookstown Magnet Honors Academy, where Washington worked as an instructional specialist.

His lawyer denies that Marks killed Washington.

Police said Washington’s daughter told them she heard a bang and saw Marks trying to clean up blood. She was found alone June 9 near her mother’s car.
