UPDATE: The victim has been identified as a 19-year-old white male.

Police have confirmed that other juveniles were in the residence at the time of the shooting.

Detectives are still investigating the circumstances.

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – Police say a man is recovering in the hospital being shot earlier this morning in Lafayette.

Public Information Karl Ratcliff said the shooting happened around 9:45 a.m. in the 500 block of South Bienville Street.

Responding officers found a white male with a single gunshot wound. The victim was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

No suspects have been identified and detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting, according to Ratcliff.
