LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – Two people are now in jail after six people were allegedly robbed at gunpoint early this morning, according to the Lafayette Police Department.

The incident happened around 1:00 a.m. in the 200 block of Claymore Drive.

Corporal Paul Mouton said six people were walking to home when a man, “approached them attempting to sell illegal drugs.”

Darion Thodile, 28, of Lafayette, allegedly pulled out a handgun and demanded valuables from the victims when they refused to buy the drugs, according to Mouton.

Thodile is also accused of hitting one of the victims with the gun and stealing their wallets and a cell phone.

Mouton said Thodile then got into a getaway truck, driven by Donald Jones, 31, of Lafayette.

The two suspects then drove away from the scene.

Officers located the suspects later near the 400 block of Woodvale Avenue and recovered the stolen property.

Darion Thodile was charged with Armed Robbery. Donald Jones was charged with principal to armed robbery for driving the getaway vehicle.

No bond has been set for either men.

Mouton said police are still investigating the incident.
