UPDATE: Lafayette Police have determined the victim suffered “an unintentional self-inflicted gunshot wound,” according to Public Information Officer Karl Ratcliff.

No suspects are being sought for the shooting.


LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – Lafayette Police are investigating a shooting that happened overnight.

Officers responded at approximately 11:45 p.m. in the 900 block of East Simcoe Street in reference to a gunshot victim.

Spokesman Karl Ratcliff tells News 10 that the victim, a 31 year old black man, was located in a parking lot with a single gunshot wound.

The victim was transported to a local hospital and is listed in stable condition.

No suspects have been identified at this time.
