Officers in Port Barre have made a number of arrests in connection to a recent string of vehicle burglaries in the area.

Chief Deon Boudreaux says that 8 arrests have been made and more are to come.

Four of the suspects taken into custody are male juveniles between the ages of 15 and 16 years old.

They are charged with multiple counts of Trespassing, Theft of Firearms, Vehicle Burglaries and Theft, Flight from an Officer and Resisting An Officer.

Port Barre police had recently worked with the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office to investigate the burglaries happening in and out of town over the past several months.

Through their investigations, officers have also arrested the following individuals on the following charges:

  • Jonathan Joseph 17, Port Barre, for Contributing to a Juvenile, Criminal Trespassing and Vehicle Burglary,
  • Douglas Zachary 27, Port Barre, Illegal Possession of a Stolen Firearm,
  • Timothy Woolridge 42, Port Barre,  Illegal Possession of a Stolen Firearm and Possession of a Stolen Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
  • Trenessa Andrus 36, Port Barre, Obstruction of Justice, for interfering while police were attempting arrest on her juvenile son.

Chief Boudreaux says these arrests have unveiled new information, which will lead to solving other burglaries and police are in the process of obtaining more warrants for arrests.
