OPELOUSAS, La. (KLFY)- The St. Landry Parish district attorney’s office is reviewing allegations of financial misconduct tied to cash accepted by the parish animal shelter, as the shelter’s director announced she was resigning.
District Attorney Earl Taylor said Thursday the Sheriff’s Department has completed an investigation regarding finances at the shelter and prosecutors are reviewing possible criminal charges against St. Landry Parish Animal Shelter Director Staci McKnight.
Although Taylor would not discuss specifics details of the investigation, he said he has spoken with parish President Bill Fontenot concerning the matter and parish council attorney Garrett Duplechain is conducting a separate investigation into financial procedures used at the shelter.
