YOUNGSVILLE, La. (KLFY)—The Ragin’ Cajuns’ Football team spent the evening aiding in the flooding cleanup efforts in one of the hardest hit areas in Youngsville.
Residents in Highland Ridge subdivision had to wade through waist-high water to get to safety.
Chris Helwig’s has been in the neighborhood for less than a year. Over the weekend, 18-inches of water destroyed his home.
He’s one of the thousands of residents fallen victim to Mother Nature and dealing with the aftermath.
“Taking it one step at a time, I know it’s not going to be done in the next week or month or so, it’s going to take a little be longer, but you know, going to stick with it, get it back to normal.” said Helwig.
In an effort to get this community back to normal, the Cajuns head football coach, Mark Hudspeth and his Ragin’ Cajun football family extended a helping hand.
Going home to home in Highland Ridge, pulling up wet carpet, moving furniture, and whatever needed to be done to clean up.
