Youngsville held their Mardi Gras parade on Saturday.

Mayor Ken Ritter of Youngsville told us Friday, the parade  will go on rain or shine. 

The route was extended from 2.7 miles to 4.  The parade also included a viewing area that was alcohol-free for families. 

Parade goers didn’t let the rain ruin the fun.  

Jordan Hargave said,”The rain comes every Mardi Gras you got to let the Mardi Gras come out of you and beat it out you know you got to be a true Cajun and celebrate this day we have here this special day in Acadiana.”

The mayor also said this year had the highest number of parade permits ever issued for the city wide event.

The Lafayette children’s parade also rolled through downtown Saturday afternoon.

Float riders stayed dry in ponchos, while parade goers appreciated the bravery to keep Mardi Gras alive. 

People from all over traveled to celebrate Mardi Gras this season.  One family wasn’t letting the rain stop them, “Were originally from here and we love Mardi Gras, so we decided to come out. and you know were committed in the the rain.”
