Franklin, La. (KLFY)  Police in Franklin responded to shots fired in the area of Augustine Maze Rd around 4 p.m. Sunday.

Police say a male victim was found dead from gunshot wounds.

The Franklin Police Department, with assistance from the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office, are still examining the crime scene and conducting interviews.

The victim’s name is being withheld until all the family can be notified.

Eyewitnesses tell KLFY that the victim was a local high school student.
