“And we just got word that she is dead,” said Trinetta Guillory, the victim’s aunt.

“She’s dead guys,” said Tyrell Guillory, the cousin of the victim.

That’s the family of Rene Williams.

She’s the victim of sunday’s shooting in Ville Platte near Tate Cove Road and East Wilson Street near the Dollar General.

Police say another man was injured in the shooting as well, which took place right after 5 Sunday evening.

The man was shot 5 times according to police. His relation to the suspect and the victim is unknown at this time.

“I heard a bunch of gunshots, a bunch of gunshots, everybody was running everywhere,” said Mrs. Trinetta.

Police Chief Neil Lartigue says the suspect is in custody and he’s the  ex boyfriend of Williams.

After the shooting took place, a shootout between the suspect and police ensued.

“A lot of gunshots, it was back and forth gun shots,” said Mrs. Trinetta.

A bullet struck a police unit according to Chief Lartigue.

The suspect surrendered after a brief standoff with authorities.

“I heard that she was shot, and then some boy was arguing with the police, telling the police that he seen her fall out the back door,” said Mrs. Trinetta.

Police Chief Neal Lartigue says Williams was dropping off her and the suspect’s child, at the suspects house, and that’s when the shots rang out.

The family is just searching for answers as to what happened.

“Can we please get information on this, we need to know what happened to her, can we please get information. I don’t want to talk anymore, I need information please. I don’t want to talk anymore,” said Tyrell.
