EVANGELINE, La. (KLFY)— Neighbors keeping an eye out in their neighborhood and an alert deputy leads to the arrest of a couple for burglary, authorities said.

The incident occurred in the Evangeline community of Acadia Parish.

According to a news release, the burglary of a Ravey Lane residence occurred while the occupants were away. But due to a watchful eye of a neighbor, deputies were able to gain information of a suspect vehicle as well as a physical description of two suspects.

Deputies said with the information provided, they were able to locate a vehicle matching the described vehicle and the occupants inside matched the description provided.

“It is the belief of out deputies,” said Sheriff K.P. Gibson, “that the suspects located and identified were preparing to commit additional burglaries.”

The sheriff added that they believe the couple was casing out additional locations when they were located.

“Our deputies were able to make an arrest as well as stop additional burglaries from occurring.” added Sheriff Gibson, “Teamwork which includes our citizens, led to this case being cleared.”

Charles Weaver, 28, of Jennings and Erica Richard, 40, of Jennings were both arrested on one count of burglary. They were both booked into the Acadia Parish Jail.
