People living in North Lafayette say a vote regarding development by the Consolidated Council Tuesday night is a big win for the area.
That 6-3 vote keeps low-income apartment complexes out of the Louisiana Avenue area near I-10.
The ordinance pushed by City-Parish Councilman Kenneth Boudreaux is intended to bring in various types of development to the Louisiana Avenue area.
The land is considered prime real estate. Some of it is owned by a developer who wanted to build a 288-unit low-income apartment complex. Tuesday night’s ordinance puts a stop to those plans.
City- Parish Councilman Kenneth Boudreaux says his main objective is making all of Lafayette’s economic growth fair for everyone. News 10’s Kellie brown spoke with him and residents to find out what this means for Lafayette in the video above.
