NEW IBERIA, La. (The Daily Iberian)- New Iberia residents will be losing two Rite Aid Pharmacies but will be gaining a third Walgreens.
Rite Aid, which was purchased by Walgreens last year for $4.38 billion, announced on Thursday the closure of seven of its locations throughout Acadiana, including both locations in New Iberia.
The Rite Aid on 1108 E. Main Street will be closing its doors on Monday, July 16. It is the second retail business to close its doors in the Town and Country Square shopping center. Winn-Dixie shut down back in February.
The Rite Aid location on 1150 W. St. Peter Street will remain open and turned into a Walgreens location.
If are a customer of Rite Aid that is currently getting prescriptions filled at the 1150 W. St. Peter Street location, your prescriptions will continue to be filled there. If you have your prescriptions filled at the 1108 E. Main Street location then they will be transferred to a nearby Walgreens.
With the St. Peter Street Rite Aid being converted to a Walgreens that means there will be now three Walgreens in New Iberia with the other two located at 1017 E. Admiral Doyle Drive and the other at 1102 Parkview Drive.
