Lafayette Mayor-President Joel Robideaux has named Danielle Breaux as Interim Director of LCG’s Development and Planning Department until a permanent director is named.
Director Carlee Alm-LaBar will vacate the position June 22. Breaux will assume the role July 2.
Breaux has worked in the private and public sector for more than 20 years in areas ranging from project management, design, design review, regulatory process management, real estate development, progressive programming, strategic planning and master planning.
“The Department has made significant improvements under Carlee’s direction to better address development and permitting,” Robideaux said. “Danielle’s impressive experience makes her the ideal candidate to step in and continue that positive momentum.”
The department was restructured in 2017 to better align neighborhood and historic preservation efforts, streamline and better enforce regulations, and improve land use planning.
Alm-LaBar will conclude her tenure at LCG to pursue interests in the private sector after eight years of public service. Robideaux appointed her as the head of Development and Planning in January of 2016 to coordinate development issues in the City and unincorporated Parish of Lafayette.
“Carlee’s dedication, commitment to excellence and insight have been invaluable to my Administration,” said Robideaux. “I’m grateful for her leadership within government and for her service to the citizens of Lafayette Parish. She will certainly be missed and we all wish her the very best in her next endeavor.”
Breaux has worked in many real estate capacities, serving as a key strategist for tactical real estate, developing strategies for large portfolios and managing regulatory approval processes for large scale projects with complex historic preservation and development challenges.
