A Ruffino’s restaurant employee in Lafayette had his car stolen from the parking lot of his job just before Thanksgiving.
So for the past week, Kea had been getting rides back and forth to work from his co-workers and family members.
That changed Wednesday when he was gifted with a new car from the very people who had been giving him a lift to the job he has held for the past 5 years.
“Everyone felt horrible and kept saying lets help Kea,” Team Manager Gavin Courrage said.
“There was no set number, it was whatever you could give and the donations just kept pouring in.” Courrage said.
“Within a week we had enough money to make a purchase.”
Kea was on duty Wednesday when the management team approached him, and asked him to take a walk outside where the employees had gathered to present Kea with the keys to a new Chevrolet Malibu.
“We love him and in order to continue working and provide for his baby daughter, everyone knew it was just the right thing to do.” Courrege said. “This could not have happened to a better person.”
Don’s Wholesale Automotive heard what the employees were trying to do and matched the donations of the staff to put Kea and his young family in a reliable, beautiful car.
Kea’s first ride was reportedly around the parking lot and then he parked the car and got right back to work.
Class Act Ruffino’s! Congrats Kea ~
