LAFAYETTE, La.(KLFY)- Fallen Lafayette Police Officer Cpl. Michael Middlebrook’s legacy is being honored as a newly renamed elementary school.

On Tuesday morning, LPSS administrators and law enforcement officials held a ceremony to officially rename Plantation Elementary to Corporal Michael Middlebrook Elementary School.

Middlebrook was shot and killed on Oct. 1, 2017, while responding a disturbance call at a Lafayette convenience store.
