SCOTT, La. (KLFY)—Two accused of scamming victims over Instagram are now allegedly scamming victims in parking lots with a “fake” story, according to authorities.

Scott Police are looking for Stephanie Sylvester, 24, and Travis Calais, 35, of Breaux Bridge.

A spokesperson with the Scott Police said the two subjects created a fraudulent company on Instagram and solicited victims to send them money through Western Union. After the money was sent the subjects cut off all contact and would not send the products which the victims believed they were purchasing.

Police said various callers had stated that Sylvester and Calais have been seen in the Lafayette area in parking lots of large shopping centers attempting to scam money from customers.

According to officials, the two subjects tell a “fake” story about not having enough money for food or a flat tire. After the couple receives money, they continue to beg for more to cover other costs.

Officers said if you observe these subjects, do not give them money. Contact 911 or your local police department immediately to report their locations, vehicle and clothing description, and any other information you can obtain safely.
