Scott Police have recovered an estimated $6,000 worth of stolen power equipment.
Demond’Tre Cockrell, 17, of Houston, Texas, was charged after being found in possession of the stolen power tools and a stolen vehicle, according to Scott police.
He is being in the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on a $15,000 bond.
While monitoring traffic on Cameron St. an officer observed a vehicle driving erratically and attempted to conduct a traffic stop but the driver refused to stop.
A short pursuit began but ended quickly when the vehicle ran off the roadway.
Once the driver was taken into custody, police say, it was found that the vehicle had been used in a burglary of a business in Lafayette.
Officers were able to find that the vehicle had also been reported stolen in the Houston, Texas area.
According to police, the stolen power equipment was returned to the owners.
