SCOTT, La. (KLFY) A woman escaped her home without injury after a kitchen fire started while she was cooking.

Scott Fire Chief Chad Sonnier says firefighters responded to the fire at 116 Haven Loop at about 4:02 p.m. Wednesday.

According to Sonnier, an investigation has ruled the fire accidental in nature.  Sonnier said the resident began cooking, and left the burner on while she went to the restroom.

He said the smoke detector alerted the homeowner, and she was able to exit the home safely.
