A cold front is currently working across Texas and will work into the area later on tonight and tomorrow morning. Ahead of the front, south winds have been breezy and these winds are expected to die down later tonight as the front approaches.

Storms have already been popping off across Texas and these storms will work into the area later tonight.
All of Acadiana is under a “Slight” Level 2 risk for severe storms tonight. Although severe weather will not be widespread or long-lasting, isolated severe storms will be possible.
The first impulse, currently across eastern Texas, should work into northwestern portions of Acadiana between 7-10pm.
With the temperature drop being respectable aloft, storms that develop early this evening will be capable of producing nickel-to-quarter sized hail.
The main line of storms, associated with the cold front, should begin to work into the area closer to midnight. Good news is that storm dynamics will begin to weaken and lift off to the northeast as this line is rolling through, so hopefully storms will be on a weakening trend when they arrive in Acadiana.
However, with cold/dry air aloft, you always have to watch for strong winds working their way down to the surface. For this reason, I believe damaging winds will be the primary risk.
Isolated tornadoes will be possible as well, especially embedded within the main line of storms.
Storms should quickly move out by tomorrow morning with a much cooler feel. Temperatures will be in the low 50s by tomorrow morning, with north winds howling across the area at 12-24 mph.
