OPELOUSAS, La. (KLFY) – Two are in jail in St. Landry Parish after authorities found drugs in their car during a traffic stop.
Tuesday, St. Landry Parish sheriff’s deputies performed a traffic stop for an expired tag.
Deputies say they found drugs with a street value of $30,000.
Authorities arrested Jason Sibley and Heather Stamant of Springfield, LA Tuesday night.
“When the officer arrived at the window of the vehicle he smelled what smelled like marijuana so it gave him the probable cause to gain entry to the vehicle,” said St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz
During the search, authorities found massage oils, bath salts, and gummy candy all infused with THC.
“We’re seeing so many different things happening nowadays,” said Sheriff Guidroz, “and we’re constantly having to figure out what [drug dealers] are doing and how they’re doing it.”
St. Landry Parish Captain Lance Guidroz said the oils, salts and gummies were “labeled as different names and THC with a certain percentage.”
They were both charged with drug possession and weapon charges.
