SLIDELL, La. (WWL-TV) – St. Tammany Fire District #1 responded to the report of a residential structure fire at 332 W. Honors Point Ct. in the Masters Point subdivision in Slidell.
Firefighters arrived on the scene in under seven minutes to find a 3,500 square foot home fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters were able to bring the situation under control and extinguish the fire within an hour and twenty minutes of arriving on the scene.
A neighbor called 911 after discovering fire coming from the roof. Other neighbors reported seeing multiple lightning strikes in the area just prior to the fire. The home had extensive fire damage throughout and is considered to be a total loss.
Firefighters also extinguished a next door neighbor’s roof that was on fire, preventing further damage to their home. The cause of the fire is believed to be a lightning strike. The owners were not home at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported.
