A student at St. Martinville Senior High has been arrested following accusations that he brought a handgun to school.
It happened Tuesday, according to the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office who received a report from administrators that a student was allegedly in possession of a firearm on campus.
During the investigation, detectives say they discovered videos posted on social media showing the unidentified student brandishing a handgun on a school bus and also inside a classroom.
A warrant was obtained for his arrest and the student was arrested and charged with the following:
1-count-carrying a firearm or dangerous weapon by a student or non-student on school property, at school sponsored functions, or in a firearm free zone. (Felony)
The student was booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center but then released to the custody of his parents.
