A woman who told St. Landry Parish Sheriff officials that she had been held hostage in the woods near Krotz Springs and sexually assaulted is currently in the hospital.
According to a press release, sheriff deputies responded to two calls Wednesday afternoon that now appear to be connected.
Public information officer Eddie Thibodeaux said the first call stated that a female was reporting that she was held hostage for weeks which during that time she had been sexually assaulted.
The suspect, according to the female, was still in the woods, Thibodeaux said.
She was located and has been taken to a local hospital, according to Thibodeaux.
The second call, Thibodeaux said, came from a homeowner’s son who stated that there was an unknown male on his mother’s property.
According to the release, the alleged trespasser had a gun and told him to drop his weapon.
The unknown male then allegedly shot at the son, who returned fire and grazed the trespasser in the head,Thibodeaux said.
He was taken to a local hospital where his condition is unknown at this time, according to Thibodeaux.
Detectives are still on the scene and at the hospital gathering additional information, according to Thibodeaux.
The investigation is ongoing.
