2ND UPDATE: New Iberia Police Public Information Officer John Babin said as of 10:35 p.m. the incident involving a man who had barricaded himself inside a Santa Clara Street residence has been resolved, although he is unable at this time to give any further details.
UPDATE: New Iberia Police are still trying to make contact with a man who barricaded himself inside a home on Santa Clara Street.
Law enforcement arrived on scene after 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Those are the only details that have been released by police, but we’re told the man barricaded himself inside the home following a domestic dispute and is refusing to answer the phone as police attempt to make contact and resolve the matter peacefully.
It is not known if there are any hostages inside the home.
Police have the road blocked and some roads leading up to the home are also blocked.
As we gather more information, we will update this story.
NEW IBERIA, La. (KLFY)- Officers are attempting to coax a man out of a home in New Iberia.
New Iberia Police Department spokesman Capt. John Babin said the department received an “irate phone call” from a home and the corner of Alameda and Santa Clara streets.
The resident refused to leave the home to speak with responding officers. Investigators do not know if the man is armed at this time.
