ORIGINAL STORY:

An early Sunday morning residential fire has left three people dead in Eunice.

According to Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot, Eunice firefighters and two other neighboring fire districts responded to a residential structure fire on South Fourth Street at its intersection with West Maple Avenue shortly after midnight Sunday.

Fontenot said a mother, and her two daughters, ages 16 and 8, were recovered from within the home after the blaze was extinguished.  He said a police patrolman was passing in the neighborhood and noticed the home engulfed.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the State Fire Marshall’s Office.
