State Fire Marshal investigators and Ouachita Parish authorities are currently on scene of a fire where three adults died Sunday morning in Monroe. The State Fire Marshal’s Office was notified after Ouachita Parish firefighters responded to a residential structure fire at 2511 Burg Jones Lane shortly after 8:00 a.m. While details are incomplete at this time, investigators have confirmed that the bodies of three adults have been recovered from within the home. Two other adults managed to escape the blaze. The identities of the deceased victims and survivors are not being released at this point of the investigation. Although the investigation as to the cause and origin of the fire is in its early stages, investigators were informed by witnesses that burglar bars, which were installed on the home, may have prevented the three victims from escaping the flames that subsequently destroyed the small, wood-framed home. More details will be released as state and parish investigators continue to comb through the scene.
