(KLFY) – State Police are investigating a shooting incident involving an East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Deputy.
This incident happened just before 7:30 p.m. Monday night.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the deputy responded to a call regarding a suspicious vehicle parked behind a business in the 5000 of Jones Creek Road.
Trooper Taylor Scrantz says that after the deputy came into contact with the person inside the vehicle, the deputy discharged his firearm, striking the person.
That person was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Scrantz says the deputy was also not injured.
The Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigation was contacted to investigate and gather all facts surrounding the incident.
State Police Troop A is assisting in the investigation.
