A stop the violence program was held tonight at Broussard Harris Recreation Center in Franklin.

The program consisted of a panel, discussion and prayer.

The event was put together in honor of the late Rachelle Bell and her son Harold Defils, who was shot and killed at age 22 in 2012.

After her son’s passing, Bell spearheaded a local “Stop the Violence Movement” with the help of friends, family and local officials.

Bell passed away on June 12, 2018.

“She fought a good fight. She left a legacy with us that will last a lifetime. She’ll never leave us”, says Roy Jackson, a relative of Rachel Bell.

At the end of Thursday night’s program, Mayor Eugene Foulcard pulled tickets during a raffle.

The Bell family donated gift cards, toys, and school supplies for the raffle.
