SULPHUR, La. (AP) – A resolution has been approved by Sulphur City Council members calling for a special election to be held on Nov. 21 which will alter restrictions of alcohol sales on Sunday.

The American Press reports the council approved the resolution Monday night.

Rather than restricting the sale of alcoholic beverages throughout the day, the new adjustments will permit the sale of alcohol after noon on Sunday.

The city’s current ordinance will still restrict the sales of alcoholic beverages on Sunday from 2 a.m.-noon.

Councilman Randy Favre says the adjustments will be put into place to accommodate not only current local businesses but also restaurants who will be moving into the area.
