FRANKLIN, La. (KLFY) A Sorrel man was arrested Saturday morning after police say he led authorities on a high speed chase that started in Baldwin and ended in Franklin, La.

Police say they were investigating a hit and run incident on Highway 182 in Baldwin Saturday. 

Authorities say they located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop investigation, however the driver of the SUV continued to travel at a high rate of speed into Franklin, La. on Highway 182.

Franklin investigators joined the pursuit as the driver continued onto Willow Street crossing the railroad tracks, police said. 

The vehicle subsequently ran out of gas and the suspect was arrested, police said.  

29 year old Maurice Rhine of Sorrell was charged with hit and run, aggravated flight from an officer, driving under suspension, possession of stolen items and warrants for failure to appear in Louisiana and Texas.

The victim in the hit and run was not injured, police said.
