On a typical Friday night at Northside High School, hundreds of football lovers come out to support the Vikings under the Friday Night Lights. Included among the supporters, the cheerleaders and their co-captain, 17 year old Si’Anne Broussard. And then a terrifying moment happenend on the night of September 11, 2015, as Broussard and a group of friends were walking to their cars when a gunman, in a passing vehicle, opened fire striking her once in the arm. She was also struck by a car that was leaving the school’s parking lot.
After a short hospital stay, and a few follow up visits to the doctor’s office the teen has made huge strides. On Saturday, she received a standing ovation at Northside’s Vikings Stadium when she appeared at the Battle of the Bands competition along with City Parish Councilmember Kenneth Boudreaux and Northside High School Principal Julia Williams.
