The monkey that was reported missing from the New Iberia Research Center has been captured.
On Saturday, Sept. 15, staff at the New Iberia Research Center became aware that a Rhesus macaque was missing due to a cage failure.
According to UL Lafayette Facebook page, the monkey was born at the center and weighs approximately 12 pounds.
It was spotted on Sunday morning near the New Iberia Sugarena before moving into a nearby wooded area, the post states.
