Paul and Minette Thibodeaux, parents of 9-year-old Bryson Thibodeaux, who went missing on the afternoon of December 28, were in court for the first time today.

On December 30, the Thibodeaux’s were arrested and booked into the Evangeline Parish Jail.

They both were released from jail on January 1 after posting a $35,000 bond each.

News 10 was the only media present in the courtroom today.

Both Paul and Minette Thibodeaux did not originally show up to their scheduled court date this morning.

That’s when Judge Chuck R. West of Division B issued a bench warrant for both their arrests.

The Thibodeauxs then showed up, claiming miscommunication and misunderstanding on their part and went before Judge West around 1 p.m. this afternoon.

You may recall– multiple agencies including the FBI, Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office and State Police searched for the child who was found on the morning of December 30, hiding under a bed, at a neighbor’s home.

Police later arrested the boy’s parents when the family home was found to be unkept and the two kids, Bryson and his 8-year-old sister, appeared malnourished.

Judge West dismissed the bench warrants and gave them both notice of their next scheduled court date set for arraignment on February 7, 2019 at 9 a.m.

They will go before 13th Judicial District Judge Gary Ortego with Division A.
