Sunday worship services were held for the three churches that were engulfed by flames in St. Landry Parish in the past two weeks.   

The local police department and other law enforcement agencies were out patrolling the area where services were being held.

The most recent fire at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church on Highway 182 near Sunset saw worshippers hold services at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church on Duson Street.

Greater Union Church which was destroyed by fire held Sunday worship at the Keystone Masonic Lodge on West Lincoln Street.

The week before last, St. Mary Baptist Church in Port Barre was the first to go up in flames and services were held Sunday at their temporary location. 

A donation fund for Mt. Pleasant has has been established.
