Many Lafayette residents were stuck with their garbage over the weekend.
Republic Services, Lafayette’s contracted waste management service, fell behind on garbage pickup this weekend.
News Ten’s Caroline Marcello is LIVE at Republic Services with more on what caused the delay.
The LCG District 8 Councilwomen says several of the Republic crews have been out sick. And one of its garbage trucks had mechanical problems. Those issues combined caused garage to pile up around Acadiana.
According to the city’s contact, Republic is being charged $25.00 per house per day that pickup is delayed.
Residents I spoke to told me their normal pick up day was on Thursday. When they called republic to file complaints and get information about the delay they say weren’t given clear answers.
