LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – A man escaped unharmed after his truck caught on fire while he was driving this afternoon.
Alton Trahan of the Lafayette Fire Department said the man smelled something burning in his 1987 Ford Ranger truck as he was traveling in the 6800 block of Johnston Street.
He then immediately pulled over to a McDonald’s parking lot and got out where the front part of the truck became engulfed in flames.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire but the truck was deemed a total loss.
Investigators say the fire started in the engine but have not determined the exact cause of the fire.
